I have certainly been doing many things lately! The one of which I am most proud is: My kitchen is spotless. This is day 2 of spotlessness. I wonder how long I can keep it up.
Okay, technically I have ONE dirty pot in the sink that needs washing. But its almost entirely spotless. And I am going to do my durndest to keep it that way.
Now I have to decide which room to set my efforts on next.
Today I did some yard work, some taxes, and had a nice visit by some friends (and a not as nice visit with some JW's!)
I wish I could say I *finished* the yard work or the taxes, but alas, it all is unfinished!

Since I'm unemployed I've been doing more than one thing daily, since I have not much else to do.
But today i did something I've been putting off: I cleaned the kitchen thoroughly. I'm nearly done now -- the counters will be spotless, every dish put away. After that, we'll see -- I might sweep the floor, or even mop it. Not sure yet.

OK, It's been a while since I've posted to one thing daily but I've decided that today was the day to start again. Considering I still hadn't unpacked from my trip to Florida last week it was time. I've unpacked and washed everything and cleaned off the table and paid all the bills! Now I'm going to finish one of those unfinished crafts that I have lying around :)

It's been a while
I came across my "scrapbook box" while cleaning out some shelves. So, for the time being, my one thing daily is going to be working on putting all these photos/fliers/tickets stubs into photo albums (or scrapbooks, if you will). So far I've put together all of the photos and items from a wedding I went to in St. Louis in 2005. I'm not necessarily going to try to get complete photo pages done every night, but I can collate items from and event, or order prints, or organize my digital photos, or start assembling pages. Maybe work on it half an hour at night while I'm watching TV. Otherwise it is just too daunting a task. For me, keeping a solely digital photo collection just does not cut it. I like to look through my photos, write comments, or include little mementos from each event. It's like a combination diary and photo album.

Every day I"ve made it an effort to leave the kitchen just a little bit cleaner than it was the day before. Doing just a few extra dishes every day, I finally have the kitchen actually looking clean. HOORAY. It wasn't too bad. I also have baked or cooked one thing every day. A few days ago it was coffee cake muffins. Two nights ago, an excellent mushroom risotto. Last night it was fresh bread. And each time, I've left the kitchen cleaner than when I started. Huzzah.
Now I need to move on to the rest of the house.. sigh. Perhaps tonight I ought to make my 'one thing' a load of laundry. Or perhaps the bathroom. Or both. So much to do... I prefer to not think about it, and just do a little bit every night. So I'm going to stop thinking about it now, its depressing. ;)

Long time coming...
I just organized my contact list. :)
I've been meaning to get this into my Palm forever, since previously all information had been scattered in different e-mail account address books, cell phones, scraps of paper, etc. I found a lot of phone numbers and e-mail addresses I didn't think I had, which is great. I'm pretty proud of this one. :)
And if you know me IRL, don't be surprised if you get an e-mail from me asking for your snail mail address and your birthday... I'm trying to be thorough. ;) Current Mood: pleased

Tonight I FINALLY took my overflowing folder of recipes that I had taken from magazines or photocopied from the library, put them into those little plastic sleeves, and put them into a binder. Yay! :) Current Mood: accomplished

Now that it is winter, I really need to step up on the 'one thing's and make sure to do something every night - I don't really have weekends anymore to do stuff, since I work 7 days a week, and my weekend job as a snowboard instructor leaves me with little energy for anything but running a hot bath to fall asleep in.
Last night, I made a pair of arm warmers. Tonight, I made a bunch of hot packs. Yay, using my sewing machine! I even cleaned up after myself. Amazing. (not that the REST of the house has gotten any cleaner, but.. oh well!)
Now I'm tired, but I have at least 4 other things I really want to do. But since I have to be at work early tomorrow... I guess they'll just have to wait!
Computer Cleanup Day
I'm down to 0 emails in my school inbox and I can finally see the wallpaper on my screen. :)

I'm still rolling!
Tonight I brought bottles and cans to the store. Previously, they'd been sitting in a bag in the kitchen for several days. I was considering going directly home since it was a long day at work and I was hungry, but I forced myself to go to the grocery store and just get it done.
My downstairs neighbors took a break from their never-ending laundry so I am doing my second and final load of the night.
three one things.
Made dinner. Not impressive.
Made cake. More impressive, since it was impromptu cake made from scratch.
Cleaned up from dinner and cake making. Incredibly impressive! I actually left the kitchen with less mess than I started with!

I'm trying to cash in on this new-found motivation, so tonight I:
- Turned my leftover bread cubes into stuffing
- Made cole slaw
- Folded and put away all the laundry that was collecting on my papasan chair
- Cleaned off my desk
- Cleaned off my desk chair
- Went through my bank statement and paid the rest of the month's bills (sob!!)
- Dug out a winter hat and gloves so I don't have to go looking for them in the morning
I think I will sleep well tonight!

I just cleaned every single dish in my kitchen! Its been a long time since I've actually been able to see the counters ;) Feels GREAT to have that done. And just in time, since I'm hosting two thanksgivings here... I needed the kitchen to be clean for that. I did it in 3 batches, 2 yesterday and one today. And now it is DONE!
Now I just have to keep it that way ;)

Having three different sets of people stopping by in the next 5 days has helped me find my motivation. Today I:
- Cleaned the bathroom, including scrubbing the tub
- Cleaned the kitchen, including mopping the floor
- Did 2 loads of laundry
I think we tend to post when we do more than "one thing" because once you start something it's easier to keep going. It's the getting started part that's hard!

Can I just mention how incredibly unmotivated I have been lately? Pretty much in all aspects of life. Tonight I cleaned all the dirty dishes and the kitchen counters and that is quite an accomplishment lately. I'll take it!
|Tuesday, November 11th, 2008|
Last night, i carried a few items upstairs so they're put away and not in the way anymore.
I found out yesterday that I had today off, so this is kind of unexpected, having the whole day to myself! But, I just don't have the energy for a major all-out cleaning today.
I've spent a considerable amount of time relaxing on the couch with the dog and cats, which has been awesome. But I also am making myself get up off my duff every hour minutes or so to do ... something! Now that its past noontime that might increase to every half hour or so... dunno, we'll see.
So far today I have:
- made two hot packs, to sell to a coworker who was interested in buying them. Yay, sewing!
- Started a load of laundry
- Emptied the dishwasher.
All that and I'm still in my pajamas. This feels pretty great - I'm proud of myself but not frazzled.
Now, the kitten is snoozing right next to me, and I think I need to join her. whee!

I had a long list of things that I wanted to do tonight. Not that i was going to do them all, but they were my options for the night, and I planned to do at least one of them.
instead, I did none of my planned tasks, and ended up taking out the trash, cleaning the kitchen, and making pumpkin bread from some fresh pumpkins that needed to get used ASAP. Bread is in the oven now, will be done in an hour. Funny, that I can be productive, but I stink at doing what I've actually planned to do. I think I'm just too spontaneous to make plans :P
Now I think I'll actually do one of the things that was an option for the night, and work on my crochet. Gotta finish all my projects before christmas!
... I have pumpkin bread batter on my chin.

Hooray, I did a thing.
I had a long day out of the house today, at a hiring clinic for my winter job as a snowboard instructor. After that, I repaired a stove with a cracked top. And then, even though I was really tired when I got home, I still emptied the cat's litter box.
And now, I think I'm going to go to bed early!
